Sick Weekend

Chapter 1

It was a Saturday morning and time to play, but Beebo was not feeling well. His throat was sore and he just wanted to go back to sleep.

Mummy came into his room and put her hand on his forehead. “Beebo, you're having a fever. Are you having a runny nose?” she asked.

“My throat is painful,” answered Beebo.

“Oh, my poor baby. Mummy'll get you some medicine, ok?” Beebo hated to be called “baby” but he was too sick to protest.

Mummy left the room and came back soon with some medicine and a big bottle of water.

“You drink lots of water, ok?” she said.

Beebo took his medicine and just frowned at the water. Yucks, thought Beebo, water is not yummy at all.

Beebo refused to drink the water. Mummy kept checking his temperature and giving him medicine throughout the day, but Beebo still refused to drink the big bottle of water.

Said Mummy: “Beebo, if you want to get better and go out and play you have to drink water. It's good for you.”

She tried getting him to drink but Beebo just took one sip and then went back to sleep.

Chapter 2

“BEEEEE-BOHHHHHHH!!!”

Beebo woke in a start. What was he doing out of bed? Peeper was with him. They were standing in a dark and smelly cave.

“What are we doing here, Peeper? I'm sick. I was in bed.”

“Does this look like your bed to you?” asked Peeper holding up a torchlight.

Beebo's eyes widened as he looked around him. The walls of the cave were dripping with yucky, icky yellow and white stuff. There was even a river of the stuff. The floor felt slippery. When Beebo looked at the floor, he realised he was also standing in yucky, icky stuff.

“What is this stuff?” asked Beebo.

“This, Beebo,” answered Peeper, “looks a lot like yucky, icky phlegm!”

“EEEEUUUUWWWWWWWWW!!!” screamed Beebo just as he slipped and fell on the yucky floor.

“Er, what are we doing here? And how do we get home?” asked Beebo.

“I don't know,” said Peeper, “this IS your dream, not mine!”

“I know,” said Beebo, “we just need to get out of this cave. Go towards the light!”

“Er, Beebo?” said Peeper.

Beebo looked at Peeper.

“What light?” asked Peeper switching off his torchlight.

Beebo realised they were in the dark. There WAS no light!

“Oh, sorry. That's what they always say in the movies,” chuckled Beebo.

Then to their surprise a booming voice was heard above them: “You'll never get out of here Beebo and Peeper! This is Phlegm Cave. There is no way out!”

Beebo and Peeper were scared. What would they do now? How would they get out?

They decided to walk up the hilly and phlegmy path. There didn't seem to be any other way. Following the phlegmy river, they plodded on.

Slosh, squish, and slosh went their footsteps, through the phlegm. It was horrible. Phlegm was everywhere.

Beebo and Peeper were feeling tired just from trying to walk through it all and the sight! You don't even want to know what it looked like in that cave!

At last, when they were too tired and just wanted to rest they saw a small kid sitting in a corner. He was covered in slime and he looked sick.

Chapter 3

“Who are you?” asked Peeper.

“I'm Callum. I've been stuck here all night,” answered the boy.

“Do you know how to get out?” asked Peeper.

Callum looked at them. “Well, if I did know how to get out of here, I wouldn't be here, would I?”

Shining his torchlight around, Peeper suddenly said: “Wait! Look at this!”

It was a giant cork!

“Maybe this is a way out!” said Peeper

Beebo and Peeper looked at each other and then they all went to the cork. Now all three boys tried to push it out. How hard could it be to remove the cork? Well, this was a giant sized cork and it took all three of them to remove it.

At last the cork came free and guess what?

Water! Plain, clear water gushed through and blasted into the cave.

All three boys crouched down for cover. When they got up the cave was sparkling clean and there was no phlegm left, not on the cave walls, not on the floor, and the river now carried clear, clean water.

About 50 feet in front of them they could see the cave entrance!

All three boys ran out and Beebo slipped and fell and knocked his head.

Chapter 4

Beebo woke up. He looked at the clock. It was only 10am and then he saw the huge bottle of water on his desk, next to his bed.

Beebo got his mug and poured out the water. He drank two mugs of water and went back to bed.

When it was lunch time, Mummy was glad to see Beebo had drunk half the bottle of water.

By Monday, Beebo was all better and you bet he told Peeper all about his dream!
